The Bakewell Blanket
Hi everyone :) We have a new pattern to share with you - YAY :D
Lots of you will have seen this blanket in various stages of progress on Instgram or Facebook... but here we are, the final thing ready for you all to use. It's so exciting! The pattern is free, and you're very welcome to pass it on to anyone you think might enjoy it too. A massive thank you must go to all the lovely people who have tested the pattern and given invaluable feedback - thank you so much!
Now, having said this is the "final thing", if you have any problems when you're using the pattern, we would love to have your feedback, and if we see a common theme occurring in where people are getting stuck we will update the pattern.
This pattern came to life when we ordered some Scheepjes whirls (Laurelin of 'Snufflebean Yarn' is our go-to for whirls), and I couldn't find a pattern I really wanted to make... and if you've bought any whirls or other beautiful gradient yarn you'll know that it's sooo pretty you have to find something special to use it for, otherwise you decide it's best to keep it just to gaze at! So after faffing around for a bit, this happened:
And after some very kind feedback I started using this pattern with the Lavenderlicious whirl :) I didn't find it the easiest yarn to start with... if you're using it for the first time and you feel like throwing it out of the window, I get you! But keep going, I absolutely love the yarn now (I'm already plotting which one to buy next).
This is the first ever Bakewell Blanket in all it's lovely purple glory:
And once that was done, I immediately started on the next! This time with a Strawberries & Scream whirl:
Haven't quite finished this one yet, but it goes with me into central London most days and make an appearance on the District Line commute!!
As you can hopefully see from the first two pics, this pattern works just as well in a solid colour, and will work well in any weight of yarn - just follow the manufacturer's guide for which size hook to use and you're good to go :)
We really hope you will enjoy using this pattern - it's definitely been fun creating it!
